r3l0z I agree with MazeLord. This is what I yearn for in dungeon-synth. one of the best albums of the last couple of months. definitely deserves a tape release Favorite track: The Necromancer Returns.

MazeLord This album evokes many early dungeon delving memories for me, from the first track to the last.

It's not chiptune, but it is like something that grew from the fertile soil of years of videogame RPG music, and I mean that in the best possible way. There are points at which I feel like i'm once again traversing the forests villages and dungeons of some very beloved old games, bringing new life to pathways trodden long ago.

Long Live the Woodsman of Nifares.

Favorite track: Wrath of the Woodsman (Final Showdown).

1.
The dark lord is back. The horizon is ridden with dust and bone as he marches his army of undead through the plains of Gildanea poisoning the land and leaving nothing behind.
2.
The necromancer swept his army through the region of Gildanea leaving The keep in ruins. For the dwellers of the keep there is nothing left. Only death, despair and emptiness. The necromancer has won.
3.
It appears the necromancer cannot be matched. He creeps through the plains towards the king's castle. It is now made clear that the necromancer wishes to rule over the kingdom of Heraeth. Anyone who is not useful alive is met with brimstone and fire and turned into an undead slave. The shadow is cast over the land and all hope seems lost.
4.
As he moves towards the castle the necromancer stumbles upon the humble village of Nifares where he is introduced to a silent man who refuses to bow down before the powers of darkness. Solevinn Hammerwill, the village blacksmith, is a humble man unconcerned with troubles of the world but will never succumb to oppression. He tries to rally the village to fight back but the peasants are paralyzed by fear. Unable to move their limbs they lose their lives one after another just to be reanimated as undead soldiers. Hammerwill fights with all his might swinging his hammer, crushing dozens of skeletons but he is greatly outnumbered and realizes he will die fighting if he doesn't flee. Most around him are already dead. He is wounded by a commander of the undead and thus forced to run. He manages to flee and after climbing a nearby hill he stops to look back. Flames are dancing over the rooftops of humble Nifares and everything he has ever known is reduced to ashes. Realizing he now has nothing to go back and fight for he turns his back and walks away.
5.
Tormented by guilt and remorse the silent hero sits by his campfire contemplating his life. He has lost his community and sense of belonging. Unsure of his future he realizes he might have lost his people but not his identity nor the unwavering pact he has forged with the old Gods. Hammerwill stands up determined to unleash his vengeance upon the necromancer and starts travelling north where he will meet the necromancer in a final showdown.
6.
Hammerwill tracks the necromancer's army through the plains of Gildanea all the way to the king's castle only to find the castle under siege. Knights and Watchmen are falling from the towers, flames are bursting from within the castle but the necromancer is nowhere to be seen. "This is it. Death or glory" he mumbles to himself with vigorous determination. Fortified by his bond with the old Gods he forces his way through the undead all the way to the king's hall. Met with the most menacing sight he slowly walks up to the throne. The necromancer sits in the king's chair and the king lies motionless on the cold stone floor. Suddenly, like lightning from the sky, the necromancer grips him in a spell of binding and drains the life out him until his will to fight back is extinguished. The situation seems hopeless untill Solevinn hears a familiar voice calling him. "You are the woodsman of Nifares. The great grandson of Roderick Hammerwill. This is not where your story ends." He feels his body bursting of adrenaline, his spirit rising, his overwhelming will to crush the necromancer rushing through him. No more does he act out of vengeance but he has found his role in the cosmic play. Encloaked in this divine second wind he frees himself from the spell, swings his hammer and banishes the necromancer. The spell of necromancy is broken and the skeleton army reduced to piles of bones. But nobody knows if this is the last we have seem of the necromancer.
